Cozy Lower Level Entertaining for family and friends this football season

As the temperature drops outside, our clients are looking inside with fresh eyes to update their homes.  Lower levels are often missed opportunities and offer great spaces to entertain friends, hang out with family and enjoy movies.  Make sure your lower level is not overlooked, as it can expand your living space and be a great retreat.

Here are are few tips for a fresh, classic design.  Instead of going with dark walls, we often keep the backdrop a light color which contrasts the warm woods, stone fireplaces and rustic cabinetry. Add barn wood or stone tile to create an accent wall for the TV area which becomes a focal point.  Wall sconces and lamps layer the lighting for cozy evenings.

Furniture has to be “sink into” comfortable to accommodate large groups.  End tables and plush ottomans work great with large sectionals.  And, a game table or console table can double as places to serve food during a family gathering.  Have fun with artwork and accessories to finish off the room, and make sure to have special areas for kids and adults.
